Hellas is one of those Tampa Bay places that is about much more than simply going out for a meal. Located in the heart of the historic Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks, the family has been sharing authentic Greek food, pastries and hospitality with the community since 1970.
What I appreciate about Hellas is the tradition behind the business. Many of the recipes have been passed through generations, and three generations of the family continue to be involved in keeping that heritage alive.
The restaurant serves traditional Greek favorites, seafood, lamb, salads and other Mediterranean dishes, while the bakery next door offers baklava, cookies, cakes, pastries and other Greek and European desserts. Their related wholesale bakery also brings many of those products to restaurants, festivals and events around the country.
For clients who are new to Tampa Bay, Hellas is also one of those places I enjoy recommending because visiting the Sponge Docks and experiencing the Greek culture of Tarpon Springs is such a unique part of living in our area.
